MAHANOY TOWNSHIP VEHICLE ACCIDENT 7-25-2011 PICTURES BY COALREGIONFIRE
MAHANOY TOWNSHIP (SCHUYLKILL COUNTY), PA - On July 25, 2011 at 11:00 hours the Mahanoy City Fire Department (West End Rescue Fire Company), Mahanoy City EMS and Shenandoah ALS were dispatched to a vehicle accident with unknown injuries at 1125 West Center Street, just west of Mahanoy City.
West End Engine 465 and West End Rescue 993 were on scene first and found one vehicle with major damage off the side of the roadway. It appeared the vehicle rolled over a number of times injuring the driver. The driver was out of the vehicle and walking about the accident scene.
Engine 465 deployed traffic control signs and directed traffic around the accident scene. Rescue 993 staged a few 100 feet away to warn oncoming traffic.
Mahanoy City EMS crew evaluated the vehicle operator for injuries. The driver stated he was not seriously hurt but wants to be checked out at a hospital.
The West End Rescue crews stood by at the scene while the State Police investigated the cause. Fire fighters directed traffic while the vehicle was removed by a towing service.
