CASS TOWNSHIP (SCHUYLKILL COUNTY), PA: On October 12, 2010 at 13:00 hours the Cass Township South-Cass Fire Company, Minersville Ambulance and Pottsville ALS were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident out side Minersville on Route 901 in Cass Township. A second phone call to the 911 Center reported the accident was at the bad curve and involved a dump truck. The caller reported that the driver was hurt and laying on top of his vehicle. The dispatcher then dispatched the Pottsville City Yorkville Rescue 63 to assist the Minersville Ambulance crew.
The Engine 268 and Ambulance 52 arrived on scene and found the driver on top of his overturned dump truck. The driver was hurt and needed to be extricated from the top of the truck. The Minersville Ambulance crew treated the driver and placed in stokes basket. The driver was then removed from the truck by fire fighters from Rescue 63. Minersville and Foster Township fighters assisted the Cass Township firefighters with accident scene traffic control.
Fire fighters from Rescue 63 contained and stopped the fluid leak from the truck. South Cass Engine 268 remained on the scene until the damage truck was towed from the scene. Minersville Ambulance and Pottsville Medics transported the driver to a local heliport.
The driver was flown to a local trauma hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
