WEST PENN TOWNSHIP (SCHUYLKILL COUNTY), PA: On June 20th at 12:45 hours the West Penn Township Fire Company, Shenandoah ALS and Penn Mahoning Ambulance were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with injuries. The accident was reported to be two vehicles at the intersection Route 309 and 895 in Snyders. A second caller reported that one of the vehicles was off the roadway and in a field.
Penn Mahoning Ambulance arrived on scene first and found a two vehicle accident. The two vehicles had serve damaged and injuries. The EMS crews evaluated all injuries and requested ALS and additional BLS units. The occupants of the vehicles were self extricated and walking about the scene injured. Engine 37-15 arrived and established traffic control. The fire fighters assist the EMS crew in extricating one of the drivers from the vehicles. Lehighton ALS and Northwest Ambulance responded and assisted the first on scene EMS unit. The EMS unit treated the injured and transported them to a local hospital.
West Penn fire fighters provided accident scene traffic control while tow trucks removed the damaged vehicles. The road way was reduced to one lane for an half hour until the destroyed vehicles were removed from the scene.
