DELANO TOWNSHIP (SCHUYLKILLCOUNTY), PA - On February 21st after 06:00 hours the Ryan Township, Delano Township Fire Companies, APTS EMS and Ryan Township Ambulance were dispatched to a vehicle accident with entrapment. The accident was reported to be in the area mile marker 132 of Interstate 81, just south of the Delano Exit. Initial phone call reported there were two tractor trailers involved with one driver trapped.
Delano Township Engine 9-10, Squad 9-70 and Ryan Township Rescue 26 went on scene and found a two tractor trailer accident with entrapment. One of the tractor trailers ran into the rear of another truck’s trailer. The driver was trapped in her cab but was not seriously hurt.
Fire fighters utilized the rescue tools from Rescue 26 to cut the truck cab’s roof to free the driver. The driver was then extricated and evaluated by EMS personnel. Delano Township Engine 9-10 provided traffic control by setting up a new traffic pattern. The fire units stood by on the scene while the tow truck removed the wrecked trucks from the roadway.
