BUTLER TOWNSHIP (SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA): On April 19, 2012 at 13:30 hours the Butler Township Fire Department (Fountain Springs, Lavelle and Englewood Fire Companies), and Ashland Ambulance were dispatched to a brush fire in the area Bernosky’s Furniture on Route 61 in Butler Township. Fountain Springs Brush 4-40 arrived to find a fast spreading brush fire on the side of the road way. The brush fire was threatening to take off up the hill side. The assistant chief then request the assistance Ashland’s, Gordon’s and Girardville’s brush trucks and tankers. Fire fighters deployed up to three hose lines to stop the spreading fire. The Additional arriving fire fighters assisted with overhaul and mop up. The fire was quickly knocked down in 20 minutes and under control in a half hour with small amount of area that was burnt.
