WEST MAHANOY TOWNSHIP (SCHUYLKILL COUNTY), PA: - On December 21, 2011 at 07:50 hours the Altamont-West Mahanoy Township Fire Company and Frackville Ambulance were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with unknown injuries. The accident was reported to be just at the Frackville exit of Interstate 81 at mile maker 124.
Ambulance 43-01 and Altamont Engine 367 arrived on scene and found the two drivers out of their vehicles that were disabled. One vehicle was sitting in the exit ramp, with front and rear end damage. The second vehicle rolled over and was sitting up side down in the middle of the road. Engine 367’s crew examined the vehicles for fluid leaks and established traffic control in the area.
The Frackville ambulance 43-01 crew responded and evaluated the one occupant for injuries. The injured driver was then transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The second Frackville Ambulance responded to the scene to obtain a patient refusal from the second driver. Engine 367 remained on the scene with the State Police until the two destroyed vehicles were towed away.
