DANVILLE (MOUNTOR COUNTY), PA: On June 25th the fire companies of Montour County hosted the 108th Annual Six County Fireman’s Convention. The Six County Fireman’s Association is made up of Schuylkill, Northumberland, Montour, Columbia, Luzerne, and Lackawanna Counties.
The day’s event started with judging of fire and rescue apparatus in the Danville Area Middle School parking on the edge of town. Judging was held from 8 AM to 12 PM and conducted by the Officer’s Club Judging group. Convention mugs and t-shirts were available for sale at the parade registration.
The parade units were then line up in the industrial complex near the Paper Magic Company. The parade kicked off at 2PM and proceeded through the streets of Danville. There was over a hundred emergency vehicles and marching bands made up the parade.
The parade finally came to an end at the Washington Fire Station on Railroad Street. A large block party was held with the band “BEEF” performed in the rear parking lot of the “WASHIES”. Emergency units after the parade staged in the large nearby parking lots in the area. Liquid Refreshments and number of types of food were for sale to all parade attendees. Trophies for the parade were passed out to the winners before 18:00 hours. Two bagpipe bands from Dauphin and Luzerne Counties performed together outside the fire station for the crowd.
